::day 2 of no power..::
Hey all. Isabel has come and gone. We had no school yesterday or today. I thought that was a good call....the storm would have really messed up traffic and stuff. Thursday afternoon, around noon or so, the sky got all gray and the wind picked up a little. The power flickered on and off all day. I thought about starting my RP project....after all...chapter one is due monday. But my mom didn't want me on the computer w/ the power going on and off, and i would have lost everything anyways if i started it. So....i have done nothing new on my homework. In the evening, the wind was getting real bad and there was a decent amount of rain. But it was okay. I watched about half of the first episode of the new "Survivor." That show was sooo cool! lol. But....then the power goes out. i was so blown!! The Drake tribe had just won the first immunity challange!! lol. I sat around in the dark being bored and listening to the hurricane, then decided to go to bed.
Ha. Haha. I got no sleep last night. The wind was blowing so hard you could hear it loud! Plus, before i went downstairs to sleep, there was this loud crash. Turned out that a huge tree in my neighbor's yard fell over. It was lying all across their front yard and reached out into the street. It had hit some people's cars that were parked across the street, but they don't look badly damaged. But it also tore down a power line. Anyways, after that i was paranoid that a tree was gonna fall on our house. I tell ya...there are some big @ss trees in my yard.
So i tried to sleep. I was just drifting off when i heard a cracking sound, then a crash. I was all like...what was that??? But the roof wasn't creaking or anything crazy like that, so i started to get back to sleep. But like a minute later, there was another crack then a loud CRASH!! Right outside my window!! I was like...what the hell???!! I ran upstairs and got a flashlight and looked outside. There was this huge branch that fell out of a tree and bounced off the roof then landed on the ground. Well, that made me so jumpy that whenever the wind blew hard (which was quite often) i was ready to hit the floor. lol. I am a VeRy jumpy person.
Not long after i fell asleep, i heard a chainsaw outside. Apparently, i had stayed up all night, and my dad had went out this morning to start cleaning up our yard. So i went out there to help. There were so many big branches and debris and stuff from the storm. Our yard and our neighbor's yard w/ the fallen tree were the worst on our street. Go figure...we have the most trees in our yards. The top of our other neighbor's tree also broke off, and it fell in our yard, knocking off the gutter on our house w/ it. Besides the branches and the gutter, some shingles on our roof were also torn off. So this morning for about 2 hours, my family and like...3 of our neighbors and their families were cleaning up from the storm. We all cleaned up our yard, then went on down and i helped clean up a few other yards. I thought it was nice how everyone sorta came together. We have good neighbors. :) Oh yeah. And 4 those of u in school, when i was like, watch a tree branch fall on my mom's van? (she always said that would happen). Well, the cars are fine...but only because before the storm my mom parked them further down the street. And it was a good thing she did that, cause there were about 4 big branches in the driveway that definately would have messed up the van. :)
Well....after cleaning up from the storm, there really wasn't much to do. The power has been out since about 8:30pm thursday night. I am lucky though, cause my dad found a generator so our fridge works, along w/ a small t.v. and i just found out i could hook the laptop up (which is why i am on now). I should do RP on here...but i dont think i can. This thing doesn't have microsoft works, which is what i need cause thats what all my RP stuff is saved under. o well. The teacher has to push back the deadline, right? i mean..we have no power for crying out loud!!
ok..enough about the storm....im sick of it. I would like to at least have a lamp so i can see....how did pple live w/out power???
