:::Back to the daily grind:::
School is once again in session. Mayn...this wasn't a good time to start school again. See...Sunday night I tried getting to bed early, since I have to wake up at 6am, and hopefully that would make me feel more awake for school. Well...by the time i actually climbed in bed it was just after 11pm....no biggie though; cause on average i get into bed sometime between 11pm and 12am. Well...i couldn't get to sleep. I mean i just COULDN'T! I wanted to sleep...i tried to make myself fall asleep...but it just wasn't happening.
I began to try all sorts of methods to get to sleep. I tried counting sheep....it didn't work....then i tried counting to 100...too easy. Tried counting to 100 backwards..still to easy. Then i tried counting as high as i could in spanish. This posed to be somewhat of a challenge, since its been about 3 years since i've taken a language in school...i got to about 46 then i got bored and a lil confused so i quit.
But by that time i started feeling a lil tired, so my mind began to wander..mostly about what i did that day....internet...read a book...then i started thinking about that afternoon, cause one of my old elementary school friends from my neighborhood dropped by to show me her fairly new dog she got. It was a cute dog...real sweet...but then thinking about her dog made me think of my dog, which got real sick and we had to put to sleep last month. Yeah...bad thoughts before bed. So that got me all upset for a long time and i couldn't get to sleep...
Long story short, i fell asleep a lil after 2:30am, and woke up for no reason at 5-somethin in the morning. i tried falling back to sleep, but then my alarm went off at 6am cause i had swim team practice in the gym. So i ran today off of about 3 hours of sleep...someone pass the coffee...
Today was okay though. Only thing, we still dont have an RP teacher...got a new sub.
Oh! And our fellow loser-of-a-superintendent is screwin us up once again! My calculus teacher told us that the teachers are doing this thing now to get on his nerves. My mom says its called "Teaching to the Rule." Its like...the teachers will only work from 9am to 4:30pm. They will no longer tutor past 4:30pm or do activities past then. They don't have to write recommendations for students anymore. They also won't grade papers before 9am or after 4:30pm. Basically, they are just gonna work the hours they have to. That is hard on students, since we are used to staying after school for things late, and some pple need recommendations for college, and there is no time during the school day for teachers to grade papers. There are some other terms, but thats all i remember. All this is because teachers hardly get paid shit, and most of the ones i know get to school early, stay late tutoring kids or sponsering club meetings or stuff, then they grade papers at night and on weekends...the work for a teacher takes up lots of time. And the teachers were mad cause PG county teachers get paid the lowest out of all the Maryland schools in the DC metro area, and they were fighting for a raise, and the superintendent just gave them a very skimpy 1.2% or somethin raise.
I think thats crazy. Our superintendent is so stupid. I see why the teachers are protecting, but it all hurts us students. My class was suggesting that the teachers strike, but my calculus teacher says they can't cause they are an "association" not a "union," so its illegal for them to strike. We were like..okay...then how bout us students make our own union and strike??! We were like...yeah..we should start a petition or all 2,700 students or so of our school should go down to the superintendent's office and protest and complain. I think that could actually work, and really, i'd love to do somethin like that...im sick of our retarded school board and superintendents and "people with power." They don't do shit, and everything they do doesn't help. They seem to make everything worse. Like last year, when that stupid lady fired a bunch of teachers cause they weren't certified to teach. Yet, some of these teachers were actually good teachers and some of our better ones, not to mention there was no one to replace these "unqualified" teachers, so several classes got stuck w/ subs. great move...sike.
And now we got this new guy, whose just as retarded if not worse than the other lady. Geez...all i can say is i got one more year in this f*ing school system and then i can move on to college...hopefully that will be better..
