:::FREEDOM:::
The last day of school for the week has just ended...oh yeah...3 day weekend!!
Today was a decent day. Swim team practice went well, though for the first time in ages i was actually tired after practice...too many dives...but it wasn't hard.
School went okay. English class was fun. The teacher divided us into groups w/ pple he thought we didn't talk to much, and we had to pick something to read in our groups from our English book, then talk about our reactions to it to the class. I got grouped together w/ Constance, Jorge and Vee...all friends...and we all are in Calculus together...so much for the teacher getting us all w/ strangers...
Anyways, we scanned our book and settled on a short story called "The Murderer," by Ray Bradbury. Good story...we all really liked it. Its a funny, futuristic story about a psychiatrist and his patient. The patient can't stand noise, music, the sounds made by machines, etc, so he "murders" them...aka...stuffs chocolate ice cream into the cassette player so it stops working...throws the toaster into the dishwasher...etc, etc....its really funny. I highly recommend it.
When we finished reading that, we still had about 20 minutes left before we were to discuss what we read. Since we got all into that first story, we went in search of another Ray Bradbury tale, and found his "A Story About Love" to read. That was also really great. It was sort of a love story. It was a little sad and a little funny...very twisted....lol. I can't really get into the plot...its not complicated, but it is hard to explain, but I recommend it.
I really like our English book...best one I think we've ever had. It has some great tips and things for writing, and it has tons of great stories, essays, poems, etc. I am always finding quotes in there that I love and that I want to remember. English class is great too. I love English as a subject, but this class is fun. Its like a seminar...we have all sorts of discussions and presentations and read lots of great works. Sometimes the teacher is a little too passionate about everything...but for the most part I love that class..
After school, I stayed after to help score the 10th grade science fair projects. Overall, they were considerably better than the freshmen's projects....which, quite frankly, isn't saying very much. Though there were some really pretty backboards and a few interesting experiments. But then again, there were just as many last minute, stick-it-together-with-staples-and-tape backboards that were obviously done the night before. And there were several projects whose experiments ranked along the same level of difficulty as the question: Which freezes faster, ice or water? Pretty elementary.
After school went to McDonalds and got me my chicken mcgrill sandwich and fried. That chicken sandwich doesn't look like chicken, but it sure is good. And fries...mmm...havent had them in ages. For the first time in forever i was able to eat them all. Yep. I was hungry. :)
